Watercolor - Rocky Shore

I have been away for a few days - but I am back and painting. Did this one today for e-bay, I like the feel of the rocks aginst the sand and foreground water and I love the distant, almost white water.

Girl Backview - Acrylic

Just finished this it is 24"X19" in acrylic and oil pastel on smooth paper. I guess it is a start in the direction I am headed. When I look at this painting it looks like me with my braid. I still need to get more abstract - what I am aiming for is a figure but the figure is just part of the abstract design - so it is not really about the figure. Doing this one with a backview was better because I was not tempted to overwork the face and features - if it's not about the figure then the features do not matter - they do not even have to exist.

Here is a close up of the face.

Watercolor

Maine seems to be a hot seller right now on ebay. I have taken a lot of vacations and photos in Maine - just love to paint the coast there. I would like to get back up to the Boothbay region soon.

Watercolor - Boat

I live about 15 minutes from the ocean - but not this view! This is more New England and I am at the Jersey Shore, no rocks or trees. The nice thing about painting is you are Queen of the World and can put a Jersey boat in a New England setting.

Illustration Friday - Sorry

A few years ago I made a collage Tarot Deck - The Odyssey Tarot. These two cards from the deck represent sorry for me. The first is the Three of Swords - this card speaks of sorrow in the form of a broken heart - it is woe and grieving for love lost. The second is the Five of Cups - this is the "spilled milk card" - so much sorrow over what has been lost that you do not see what you still have, two full cups.

We all spend too much time being sorry for what we have lost rather than celebrating what we still have and what is to come!

Figure - mixed media

I decided to paint what I wanted today (nothing for e-bay for a change) - and of course that would be a figure. I did the above figure and a collage that I will post later. I LOVE the work of Milt Kobayashi and decided to do a painting in his style since I am studying his work. This is in acrylic with some mixed media thrown in. It was fun and I need to do this more often if I am ever to get better at figures.

Necklace

New necklace completed last night - the beads on this are gold. My jewelry class for last night was cancelled - too bad as I was looking forward to it.

Digital Image

I have be neglecting my digital work lately - so today I was listing to Sheryl Crow and this line from one of her songs stuck in my head "I have a face I cannot show". I thought I would do a digital image to illustrate it.

Watercolor - Shoreline

A new watercolor - I am making an effort to make more interesting skies - I think I did it here. I really need to get painting so I have some landscapes to sell on e-bay, right now I paint and put the paintings out there - I would love to have a backlog so I can do some other art related things, like work on figures and do some digital stuff. I guess I need to make some Odyssey tarot decks too.

Watercolor - The Lake

I talked with the rec director in Pa. and I am going to teach a watercolor workshop in July. I am excited about it and it is too far away yet for me to be nervous. My topic will be water in all it's forms - lakes, ocean, streams, waterfalls. I have a ton of ideas!!!!
